Putting the passion in Passion Pop

Christened the 'Good Oil', Wade Goodall is a nervous kid with more talent than he quite knows how to deal with. Another thoroughbred from the maturing stable of respectable Sunshine Coast surfers, Wade listens to rap but he is a traditional Aussie type: straight shooting, born to entertain, not shy of a good time with the mates, always potentially mischievous and as cheeky as a Jenny Craig clinic.

Not shy of giving things a go, he once broke his collarbone attempting back flips on his trampoline, landing headfirst between the springs. Although he is mostly good natured, he loves teasing the shit out grommets and he is a strong believer in the practices of making grommets earn their place in the surf culture.
Wade Goodall is a master in the making. He cracked his inaugural Billabong Pro-teen series event win in Wollongong in early 2005, finally proving to himself and others that he can match his talent with contest results. “Over the last year or two I have had a lot of problems with my confidence and my heat strategy,” said Goodall. “I am still on and off but the Wollongong Pro Teen just clicked.” This was the kick-start that Wade needed. From Wollongong, he went on to win an additional ASP Pro Junior event in 2005, ending the year in a dominant position.

2006 marked Goodall’s last year on the ASP Pro Junior Series, but the Sunshine Coaster finished the year exceptionally. In October, Goodall entered the Billabong Pro Teen at Bell Beach an outside bet. Ranked seventh overall, few could predict what was about to happen. Confident from the outset, Wade found himself in the final and with a shot at a fairytale ending.
Sure enough, Goodall exuded confidence to take, not only the event win, but also the series title, finishing the year as the ASP Australasia Pro Junior Champion.

Wade is also a bit of a masochist with a pen, forever drawing on himself and anyone within arms reach of his feverish addiction. Fortunately for the onlookers he also applies this same masochist attitude towards sections within reach of he and his surfboard, be it aerials with all sorts of variants, making impossible laybacks or deftly carving a scrupulously copybook cutback.

It’s off to the big leagues for Wade, who will be hoping to bring such success to the World Qualifying Series.

The sky really is the limit for the guy who introduced Taj to Passion Pops.
