Billabong will be returning to Snow Park New Zealand this coming August for the Billabong Bro Down.

To be held on August 28-29, the Billabong Bro Down presented by SONY is a two-day event combining a 3 Star TTR (Ticket To Ride) Billabong Big Air contest and a Nixon Quarter Pipe Throw Down.

In its sixth year and treated as a warm up to the TTR North American season, the Bro Down attracts a swagger of international stars eager to claim early TTR rating points.  Big names already confirmed for the 2009 event include Antti Autti, Scotty Lago, Jamie Anderson, Risto Matilla and Marius Otterstad.

The 2008 junior’s and open event was taken out by talented Canadian rider Sebastien Toutant, but prior to that it has been the local Kiwi riders that have dominated the men’s event.  The women’s contest has been traditionally dominated by TTR champion Jamie Anderson, having won the previous two years.  

The Nixon Quarter-Pipe Throw-down, set to be held on Friday August 28th, will be an open jam format where junior men’s and senior men’s will throw down for serious prizes.  The 2008 event was won by Finnish X-games super star Antti Autti with a buttery smooth 900.  Following the Nixon Throw-down, VonZipper and Bacardi will be holding a Sunset Cocktail hour and Snow Park night riding.  

The Billabong Bro Down after party on August 29th will feature tunes from a number of NZ’s top DJ’s including Downtown Brown, Sunshine Sound System and P-Money.
